Ca25. John Le Scot probably came to England with the Empress Maude (so called because she married 1st Henry, Emperor of Germany. She married 2nd Geoffrey Plantagenet). He married Larderina, 2nd daughter and co-heir of Alphonsus Gospatrick, Lord of Calverly, Pudsey and several manors.
Ca24. John le Scot, of Calverly, son of John. He was Seneschal to Empress Maud, daughter of Henry I, by Maud, daughter of Malcolm, King of Scotland, and Margaret, Princess of the Saxon line. He bore for arms sometimes a lion rampant counterchanged and sometimes a lion rampant droit, as may be seen by his seal affixed to deeds in his time. He was living in reign of Stephen, 1136. He married a daughter of Sir John Luttrell, Knight of Hoton Paynel, Yorkshire (However, the Lutterell pedigree indicates that Hooton Paganell did not come into Lutterell possession until after 1200).
Ca23. Walter le Scot, of Calverly, son of John. In 1176, gave the Vicarage of Calverly to the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin at York. He married Joan Swillington, daughter of Sir John Swillington, 22nd of Henry II.
04. Sir Roger Scot, son of Walter was immortalized by Addison. He was a person of renowned hospitality, since at this day the tune of Roger de Calverly refers to him, who according to those times kept his minstrels. He wife's name is unknown.

Ca21. John Le Scot, son of William and Mabel assumed the name of Calverly when he became Lord of Calverly, 3rd of Edward I, 1275. He married Margaret.
Ca20. Sir John Calverly, son of John and Margaret lived in the time of Edward III and in 1324 he granted lands to the monks of Kirkstall. He married Joanna de Berewick de Rawdon, a relation of Sir Simon Ward.

Ca18. Sir Walter Calverly, son of Walter and Margery. During his lifetime Calverly church was rebuilt and his arms of 6 owls was cut or plated in the woodwork there. His will was dated Oct. 10, 1404. He married 1st Joan Normanville, 2nd Joanna, daughter of Sir John Bigod of Aettrington. Weis' "Ancestral Roots" (156:34) states that Walter married twice and that the mother of his namesake was not Joanna Bigod, but his "other wife".
Ca17. Walter Calverly, son of Walter was born before 1429. He succeeded his brother, Sir John, who was killed at Shrewsbury fighting for Henry IV. He was living 1429 and married Elizabeth Markinfeld, daughter of Sir Thomas Markinfeld, knight. Also called Alias Scot. He died in 1466.
Ca16. Sir William Calverly, son of Walter and Elizabeth called Alias Scot, was the last who retained the Scot to his name. His will was dated April 12, 1488. He married Agnes Tempest, daughter of Sir John Tempest of Bracewell by Alice, daughter of Sir Robert Sherbourne of Stonyhurst in Lancashire.
Ca15. Sir William Calverly, son of William and Agnes was killed with his brother Richard in the field by the Earl of Surrey in expedition to Scotland. His will was dated Aug. 2, 1506. He married 1st Anne Vavasour, 2nd Alice Savile, daughter of John Savile of Thornhill, knight. She was a widow 2nd of Henry VIII, 1511, and died 1529.
Ca14. Sir Walter Calverly, son of William and Alice ?(Elizabeth) was born abt 1483 Calverly, England. He was aged 23 at the death of his father. He was knighted at the seige of Flanders and died 1537/8. He married 1st Elizabeth, or Isabel Drakes, daughter of John Drax, or Drakes, by Margaret, daughter of Percyvall Amyas, by license dated April 30, 1500. He married 2nd his first cousin Alice, daughter of John Vavasour, no issue by her.
Ca13. Sir William Calverly, son of Walter and Isabel was born abt 1507 in Calverly, England. He was knighted 3rd of Edward VI, and in the next year, 1549/50, was Sheriff of York. He was aged 30 at the death of his father in 1537. He died intestate at Chester October 27, 1570. He married 1st Elizabeth Middleton February 2, 1527, by whom he had 7 sons and 8daughters, 2nd Elizabeth Sneyd, youngest daughter of Richard Sneyd of Bradwell, County Stafford, and by her had 3 daughters, Jane, Elizabeth and Beatrice.
Ca12. Beatrice Calverly, daughter of William and Elizabeth was born abt. 1544 in Calverly, England. She married Robert Hyde abt. 1568 in England. Robert is the son of Robert Hyde (Hy13) and Jane Davenport (Da13). Beatrice died on December 21, 1624 in Stockport, Cheshire, England. I descend from Beatrice and Robert's son William who came to Connecticut.
